I won a ticket to see Randal Munroe, creator and author of XKCD, at the Silicon Valley charity event! I'm excited.
I brought my electric guitar up last weekend (did I mention that already?) so now I need an amp.
I've started this brilliant plan. From now on, whenever I want some stupid "thing" really badly, but it's not something that I really need, I'm gonna "buy" it by transferring money from my checking account to my (kinda sorta high yield) savings account. And I shall go wanting of that stupid thing I didn't need. I made my first "purchase" yesterday. I wanted a nice tobacco and bergamot scented candle (fuck you), so I deposited $10 into my savings account instead. I also plan on depositing 5% of my paycheck before taxes into that account. When the sum gets high enough I'll probably put it to work in a conservative equity investment. Hopefully it'll help me out in the future.
My parents are letting me buy my car from them! Really cheap, too. For $200/mo for 12 months I get to own a car. $2400 for a 2004 Saturn ION is a pretty damn good deal.
